Check İzmir out from where we see it

The modern city of İzmir wowed famous poets like Kemalettin Kamu and Atilla İlhan and had poems written about it. The city still wows its every single visitor. This beautiful city is located in the western Anatolia, on the Aegean Sea and has been known as the “Pearl of the Aegean” for its unique beauty. It is the third most populous city in Turkey with a population of over 4 million. With its beauties and benefits, İzmir is also the number one escape route of those who wish to run away from the metropolitan lifestyle.

The local lifestyle and the İzmir dialect locals created with special words made İzmir one of the most talked-about cities. They have different words for sunflower seeds, tomatoes, corn, and white chickpeas (Sunflower Seeds = Çekirdek (in traditional Turkish) = Çiğdem (in İzmir dialect) / Tomatoes = Domates (in traditional Turkish) = Domat (in İzmir dialect) / Corn = Mısır (in traditional Turkish) = Darı (in İzmir dialect) / White Chickpeas = Beyaz Leblebi (in Traditional Turkish) = Nohut (in İzmir dialect)). Its high-quality universities and entertaining nightlife transformed the city into an ideal college town.

Every part of the city is worth seeing, but the first thing to do is to walk across Kordon district after breakfast or dinner. Then you can visit Konak and the clock tower briefly to enjoy the atmosphere and take many pictures. We suggest shopaholics visit Konak Pier and definitely have a drink there. Also, visit the Kemeraltı Market to find a couple of souvenirs. If you have a car or love long drives, do not forget to add Alaçatı, Şirince, and the ancient city of Ephesus.

If you want to have a culinary trip, you must try adagial İzmir boyoz and kumru. We also suggest you try stuffed mussels and appetizers in İzmir. In addition to these, İzmir meatballs, cold cuts, Şevketi Bostan with special herbs and many other dishes specific to İzmir await you.
