Güncelleme Tarihi: 2 September 2024

August is the hottest month of summer, yet it offers wonderful opportunities for a holiday in Türkiye. From paradise beaches where you can enjoy the trio of sea, sand, and sun to cool highlands and ancient cities where you can trace history, you can plan a wide variety of holiday routes and treat yourself to a delightful vacation during the best time of the year.

We wanted to contribute to your itinerary and have prepared a list of the most beautiful places you can discover in August.

1. İzmir - Çeşme

Alaçatı

We have given the top spot on our list to Çeşme, one of the most popular holiday destinations in recent years. With its historical texture, blue flag beaches, lively beach clubs, vibrant nightlife, and luxurious resorts, Çeşme offers both fun and relaxation. Let's see what you can do in Çeşme this month.

Alaçatı, with its stone houses and narrow streets, has an extremely romantic atmosphere, making it ideal for staying in boutique hotels and spending time shopping at local markets. If you are interested in water sports, we recommend trying windsurfing with Alaçatı's famous wind at your back.

Ilıca Beach, known for its thermal waters, is very suitable for families with children due to its shallow and warm sea. You can taste the flavors of Aegean cuisine in the cafes and restaurants along the beach and play beach volleyball on its white sandy shore.

Çeşme is rich in both historical sites and beautiful beaches. Çeşme Castle, with its magnificent view of Çeşme, the ancient city of Erythrai, which reveals the region's rich history, Aya Yorgi Bay, which hosts Çeşme's popular beach clubs, and Delikli Koy, a perfect choice for those seeking tranquility, are places you should add to your to-do list in Çeşme.

2. Rize - Ayder Yaylası

Ayder

One of the best things to do in this heat is definitely to head to the highlands, right? The lush, cool highlands of the Black Sea are perfect alternatives to explore this August. Our recommendation, as always, is Ayder Yaylası.

Ayder Yaylası, one of the most popular tourist spots in Rize, truly has a unique nature. Here, it is possible to relax and recharge by spending time in nature. The best way to do this is by going on long nature walks on trails surrounded by green forests, mountains, and meadows. Especially popular are the walks to Gelintülü Waterfall.

Of course, we won't just talk about peace in Ayder Yaylası. Those who want to spice up their holiday with a bit of adrenaline can join an exciting rafting tour on the Fırtına River with professional guides and make this experience even more special by discovering the natural beauties around the river.

3. Aydın - Didim

Didim

Didim, one of the most beautiful holiday destinations in the Aegean Region, is a mesmerizing place where history and nature intertwine. Despite being the hottest period, you won't even feel the scorching heat while discovering Didim's unique beaches and historical riches.

Altınkum, Didim's most famous beach, is one of the favorite places for holidaymakers to spend time with its golden sands and clear sea. However, Didim is not limited to Altınkum Beach alone; here, you can find many hidden coves and pristine beaches to suit your preference. Let us give you a few tips: if you are looking for a peaceful atmosphere, Akbük Bay, Manastır Bay, and Haydar Bay might be suitable for you. If you are interested in diving, you should definitely visit Aquarium Bay.

It's also impossible to separate Didim from its historical sites. The Temple of Apollo, one of Didim's most important historical structures, comes first. The temple, which bears significant traces of the ancient Greek period with its enchanting columns and impressive architecture, is one of the most photographed places in Didim. Another historical site you should visit is the ancient city of Miletus, the hometown of one of the most important philosophers of the ancient world, Thales.

4. Karabük - Safranbolu

Safranbolu

Safranbolu, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is a destination that stands out with its historical texture and magnificent nature, making it one of the places to visit in all four seasons. This enchanting town, affiliated with Karabük, resembles an open-air museum with its historical houses, bazaars, and inns from the Ottoman period.

Let's start with one of Safranbolu's most well-known features, the Historical Safranbolu Houses. These wooden houses from the Ottoman period are considered some of the finest examples of traditional Turkish architecture. You can climb to Hıdırlık Hill to enjoy a panoramic view of the entire town and take photos of these historical houses.

Cinci Han and the adjacent Cinci Hamam, located in Safranbolu's historical bazaar, are important historical sites noted for their stone and wood craftsmanship. There are also shops where you can find traditional handicrafts.

Other places we recommend to make your holiday unforgettable in the unique atmosphere of Safranbolu include Yörük Village, İncekaya Aqueduct, Tokatlı Canyon, Bulak Cave, which is one of the largest caves in Türkiye, and the Crystal Terrace in Tokatlı Canyon.

5. Sinop - Hamsilos Bay

Hamsilos

The last place on our list is Sinop, which attracts attention with its natural beauties and historical texture. Hamsilos Bay, a natural harbor, is a wonderful destination to escape the heat and embrace the coolness. It is also Türkiye's only fjord.

So, what can you do in Sinop's Hamsilos Bay?

The best way to enjoy the hot weather in August is by swimming in cool waters. Hamsilos Bay is a wonderful alternative for spending a pleasant day in nature with its clean and calm waters. You can have a picnic with your family and friends in the picnic areas around the bay, explore the region's flora with long nature walks, and enjoy the magnificent nature of Sinop on routes filled with pine forests and various natural formations.

Watching the stunning sunset at İnceburun Lighthouse, the northernmost point of Türkiye, with the roaring waves of the Black Sea, sunbathing on Akliman Beach, famous for its fine sand, and visiting important historical sites such as the Historical Prison and Sinop Castle will be the best gifts you can give yourself on this holiday.
